Privacy notice

Halcyon Casebooks sells and runs The Halcyon Guest. This notice explains what we learn about you when you buy and play it. The short version: very little.

When you sign in

Signing in with Whop tells us one thing, your Whop user ID. We ask Whop for nothing else, so we don't receive your name, email address or payment details. We then ask Whop whether that account has bought the game.

What we keep

For each purchase we keep a single record containing:

• your Whop user ID and the Whop membership ID of the purchase;
• whether access is active or has ended;
• when access started and, if it ended, when and why (for example, a refund).

That record is how we decide who can open the game. It's stored in a database run by Cloudflare, which hosts this site. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.

Cookies

We use two cookies, both needed for signing in:

• __Host-hg_session keeps you signed in. It lasts up to 30 days and renews while you keep playing.
• __Host-hg_oauth exists for up to 10 minutes while you sign in with Whop, then it's deleted.

There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Game assets are packaged locally; sending optional feedback contacts our separate Cloudflare-hosted feedback service.

Your game progress

Your investigation is saved in your own browser's storage, on your device. It is never sent to us.

Optional player feedback

After submitting your case report in the game, you may send optional feedback. We store only the survey answers you choose, your optional comment, the game and survey versions, a random receipt identifier and the submission time. Please do not include personal or payment details in your comment.

Feedback is sent to our Cloudflare-hosted service and stored in a separate Cloudflare database so we can understand the player experience and improve the game. It is not linked to your Whop account, and your investigation, Findings, Cards, Board and case report text are not included. Cloudflare processes your IP address to protect the service and limit repeated requests; we do not store it in the feedback database.

Submissions currently have no automatic expiry. We retain them for review and improvement until we remove them or you request deletion. To have a submission deleted, email halcyoncasebooks@gmail.com with its receipt. We do not sell feedback. You can skip the form without affecting your access or the ending.

Whop and Cloudflare

Whop handles your account, checkout and payment under Whop's privacy policy. Cloudflare delivers and protects this site, and in doing so it processes technical details of each visit, such as your IP address. We haven't switched on request logging, so we don't keep a record of your visits. There's one exception. Some links we share, in an email or a post, end in a short code (?ref=…). If you arrive through one, we note the code and the time, and note it again if you press the buy button.

Your choices

Clearing this site's cookies in your browser signs you out. To ask what we hold about you, or to have your purchase record deleted, email halcyoncasebooks@gmail.com. Deleting it won't end your access: while your Whop purchase stands, your next sign-in creates the record again. If a purchase was refunded or disputed, we keep the record that its access ended, so signing in can't bring access back.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top will change with it.
